WHAT IS THE MBTI?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) is one of the most thoroughly researched and respected personality tests in the psychological field. It is used in High Schools, Colleges, by Professional Career Counselors, in the Military, in Business Team Building, and even in Marriage Counseling. In career counseling the MBTI* is used to help you understand your preferences. It can help you better understand what interests and energizes you. And understanding your skills and your personal preferences is the first step in making an informed career decision.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator gives you feedback regarding your preferences -- the way you prefer to interact with information, people and things, and how you make your decisions -- which can help with your selection of a job function that would be rewarding to you. Based on Carl Jung's psychological type theory, the MBTI consists of completing a questionnaire (this takes about 20 minutes) and receiving counseling feedback regarding your preferences based on your responses. It also includes a list of jobs that people with your MBTI type tend to migrate towards. This would be a good first step in giving you some direction and helping you understand what you may want to do with your career going forward. Once you have a direction and are focused, you will be able to start to take control and better manage your career.

QUALIFICATIONS

My experience includes over 20 years in Human Resources and Counseling Services in Private Career Counseling for executives and professionals as well as Group Counseling. I served on the staff of Right Management Consultants, an international outplacement counseling and consulting firm, and I am qualified by Type Resources to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. I am also a member of the Association For Psychological Type.
